日本的Kondo公司首次把类人机器人Kondo-KHR-1的全套元件投放市场。一年之后，Kondo公司的竞争对手韩国遥控伺服系统公司Hitec 生产的Robonova-1类人机器人全套元件被引进到日本市场。从2004年7月到2005年年底，Kondo公司售出了3,500多套Kondo-KHR-1的组件，估计其中远销到日本和韩国之外的组件至多有几百套。

The Robonova-1 humanoid robot kit, from Korean RC-servo company Hitec, was introduced to the Japanese market a year after the Kondo-KHR-1 humanoid robot kit was first launched from competitor company Kondo. From July 2004 through the end of 2005, Kondo sold over 3,500 units of the Kondo-KHR-1 out of which it is estimated that not more than a couple of hundred units were sold outside of Japan and Korea.

Hitec engineers were obviously very much inspired by the Kondo-KHR-1 to the extent that many of the Robonova-1’s building blocks seem to be almost identical to its rival. Nevertheless, Robonova-1 is an evolution from the Kondo-KHR-1. It is easier to build, its software is more comprehensive, and it looks and feels a bit less like a bunch of servos hacked together by some aluminum brackets.

The Robonova-1 is a regular competitor in ROBO-ONE fighting tournaments and comes unassembled in a box with over 200 little parts and 16 servos. It sells for about $1,000 US.
